Stay vs. Wait....What's the difference?
Stay means: Stay where you are until I return to you and release you.
Use STAY when you want your dog to remain in position for a certain amount of time. Use a single consistent release word to let your dog know that he is free to break position.
For example: Free, Released, All Done, Finished
Wait means: pause briefly until I tell you what to do next.
Use WAIT for entering and exiting doorways, for recalls, and for feedings. Instead of using a release word, tell your dog what to do next.
For example: Let's go, Come, Take it
